Right to Information

  1. INFORMATION OFFICER:

    The Right to Information Act, 2005 extends to the whole of India except the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The Act enables the citizens seek information under the control of public authorities with a view to promoting transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority.

  2. WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION CAN BE SOUGHT?

    Information includes any material in any form, including records, documents, memos,circulars, orders, reportsetc. held in any electronic form and information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority.

  3. WHO CAN SEEK INFORMATION?

    Any member of the public has a right to seek information by making a request in writingeither in Hindi, English or in Marathi along with a fee prescribed in this respect.

    A request for obtaining information under sub-section (1) of section 6 shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rs.10/- (Rupees ten only) by way of cash or by demand draft or postal order or pay order payable to J.M.Patel College of Commerce.

    For providing the information under sub-section (1) of Section 7 (disposal of request), following fee shall be charged by way of cash against proper receipt.

    1. Rs.2- for each page (in A4 or A3 size paper) created or copied.
    2. Actual charge or cost of a copy in larger size paper.
    3. Actual cost for samples or models.

    For to providing information under sub-section (5) of Section 7, the fee shall be charged by way of cash against proper receipt or any demand draft or postal order or pay order payable to J.M.Patel College of Commerce. at the following rate.

    a. For information provided in CD or floppy -`. Fifty per CD or floppy.
    b. For information provided in printed form

  6. TIME REQUIRED FOR FURNISHING INFORMATION

    The Act provides for a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of the application for information to either provide the information or reject the request for any of the reasons specified under the Act. If the information desired concerns the life and liberty of a person, the same shall be provided within 48 hours of the receipt of the request.
