National Service Scheme is one of the very important extra-curricular activities our students are involved. NSS was started by the Central Government in the year 1969 as per the recommendations of Kothari Commission as part of Extension Activities . Soon it was accepted and implemented all over India. The mains motto of NSS is ?Not me but you?, it really means that we have work for the others or for society.
The main objectives behind National Service scheme are inculcating the social responsibility among the students and imbibing social values along with personality development of students. Apart from this other objectives are .
- To understand the community in which they work.
- To understand themselves in relation with their community.
- To identify the needs and problems of community and involve them in problem solving.
- To develop a Civic sense and sense of responsibility
- Acquire Leadership qualities and democratic attitude
- Develop capacities to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
- Practice national integration and social harmony
To fulfill these objectives, various programmes are planned throughout the year through the NSS Cell at University Level and implemented by the colleges. Our college volunteers are very active and engaged in community building.
Our college has been bestowed with two units. There are total 150 volunteers enrolled at our college. Two trained teachers are functioning as NSS Programme Officers who look after the overall work and projects. The NSS activities are classified into three types of activities.
A]Area Level Projects: - These activities are conducted in our adopted area Premnagar which is adjacent to college. Many times activities are arranged to create awareness about social issues and cleanliness.
B]University Level Activities: - Many activities are arranged at the level of University wherein the college students attend.
C]College Level Activities: - Many types of workshops, Guest Lectures and programmes are arranged for the students.
Apart from all these a Residential Camp for seven days is conducted every year. From last year we have been conducting our camp at Ganeshpuri and VajreshwariVillage ,TalukaBhivandi which is our adopted village. We also conduct Blood Donation and Thalassemia Checkup activity wherein the students also take part. We have undertaken many projects such as Save the Electricity, Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, Campaingn against Dengue/Malaria, Voter Awareness, Digital Literary ,Workshop on Competitive Examinations etc. We plan to organize many more programmes in our college to improve communication skills of our students and develop leadership qualities.
